2021 Paterson Student Poetry Anthology
The Paterson Student Poetry Contest has been an integral part of TAPP’s programming since its inception in 1988. It was meant to give Paterson youth a chance to write and participate in the creative process. Over the years, thousands of students have submitted poems illustrating the challenges they face, the wide range of emotions they experience and what it’s like to grow up in the Silk City.
Today, the Contest continues to be available to Paterson students grades one through twelve. Professional poets judge entries and select winners who are published in an anthology, receive awards, and are later invited to a poetry reading and awards ceremony. New themes are selected each year to inspire students to write about subjects they may not think of otherwise.
